Clinical leadership

What helps a primary care team work well together?

A primary care team is more than a group of people working in the same clinic. It functions well when roles are clear, communication is easy, and everyone understands how their part connects to patient care as a whole.

In my experience, the teams that work best are not necessarily the ones with the most resources — they are the ones with clear expectations, mutual respect, and a shared sense of why the work matters.

Leadership in this context is less about direction from the top and more about creating the conditions where good clinical work can happen consistently, day after day.
